Bhutan Outdoor Sports

Bhutan Outdoor Sports Once you travel and tour Bhutan, you cannot resist the temptation of going for adventure sports. Bhutan houses and hosts an array of outdoor sports which pumps up your adrenaline and Bhutan tourism whets your appetite for adventures with its various adventure sports.  Few of the prominent ones are as follows:

Trekking
Bhutan is dream come true for trekkers. Bhutan has more than a dozen trekking routes offering a wide range of unforgettable impressions and experiences. In Bhutan you get the choice of choosing a short but beautiful trek like the Druk Path or a challenging but extremely rewarding route like the Snowman. In all it provides unparalleled views, tranquil nature, backwoods and inimitable people that will stay engraved in your mind forever.

Bhutan Outdoor Sports Rafting and Kayaking
After tasting the towering heights the next outdoor sport you can indulge in is river rafting and kayaking. This sport is still in its budding stages but Bhutan certainly has the potential for some of the best white water sports on earth. Bhutan's astonishing vegetation and wildlife along the rivers, house high boulders within the rivers make Rafting and Kayaking in Bhutan an overwhelming adventure.

Bicycling
f you think Bhutan is only good at providing trekking, then you are wrong. This marvelous country is also a subject of curiosity as a bicyclist in Bhutan. The Bhutanese school kids keep greeting you and wishing you a nice day wherever you appear with your bicycle. Also when cycling through Bhutan, you cross abundant ups and downs and at least five curves per kilometer. Most of the time, you find yourself almost alone as there is hardly any traffic. But it is wise for the cyclists to maintain an average cycling speed. To put it short, cycling in Bhutan is a true adventure of the Himalayas.

Bhutan Outdoor Sports Mountain Biking
If you are more adventurous and are daring for more, then mountain biking is the sport that you should indulge in. It has been seen that only a couple of hundred mountain bikers have so far come to Bhutan, to bike up to lonely Chortens, picturesque Bhutanese villages or beautiful lakes. Since the foundation of the Bhutan Mountain Biking Club, new routes are being discovered every year and trails are increasingly being improved and signposted.

Nepal People

Nepal - People

Nepal - PeopleAfter having a deep look into Nepal's culture and tradition, Nepal tourism takes you down memory lane. The history of Nepal is characterized by its isolated position in the Himalayas and its two dominant neighbors, India and China. Both these countries play a strong and dominant role in shaping Nepal's history. Very few know that even though Nepal was independent through most of its history, it was split in three from the 15th to 18th century. Soon after, it was united as a monarchy, and experienced a failed struggle for democracy in the 20th century. Since the 1990s, the country is plagued by a civil war. According to the historians the Neolithic tools found in the Katmandu Valley indicate that people have been living in the Himalayan region for at least 9,000 years. Also it appears that people who were probably of Tibeto-Burman ethnicity lived in Nepal 2,500 years ago. Your travel and tour in Nepal will give you a clearer picture of Nepal's rich history.

Nepal tourism showcases the glorious history of Nepal. It is said that a few archeologists believes that Indo-Aryan Kelsey Knutson tribes entered the valley around 1500 BC and around 1000 BC, small kingdoms and confederations of clans arose. Then was the time when one of the princes of the Shakya confederation was Siddhartha Gautama (563-483 BC), who relinquished his royalty to lead an austere life and came to be known as the Buddha. After that around 250 BC, the region came under the influence of the Mauryan Empire of northern India, and later became a marionette state under the Gupta Dynasty in the 4th century. However, from the late 5th century, rulers called the Licchavis governed the area. This dynasty also declined in the late 8th century and was followed by a Newari era, from 879. This was the time when southern Nepal came under the influence of the Chalukaya Empire of southern India. Under this dynasty Nepal's religious establishment changed as the kings patronised Hinduism instead of the prevailing Buddhism.

Nepal - PeopleAfter facing various rules and dynasties, by the early 13th century, leaders were emerging whose names ended with the Sanskrit suffix malla. Moreover, their reign was marked by upheaval, but the kings consolidated their power over the next 200 years. This century ended, and by late 14th century much of the country began to come under a unified rule. This unity was short-lived: in 1482 the kingdom was carved into three - Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhadgaon - which had petty rivalry for centuries. In 1765 the Gorkha ruler Prithvi Narayan Shah, set out to amalgamate the kingdoms after first seeking arms and aid from Indian kings and buying the neutrality of bordering Indian kingdoms.

Nepal's glorious history is the point of conversation from several years and has been the point of research for an array of historians too, but you could learn more when you travel and tour Nepal.

Whether you like kite surfing, paragliding, skydiving, hang gliding, surfing, windsurfing, rock climbing, kayaking, mountain biking & scuba diving all adventure sports are here to make your trip more enjoyment. Talking about the adventure sports and places then it’s the Colombo which heads the list. This capital city has got some of the marvelous adventure sports to boasts but the prime one is kite surfing.

This means they design the game as per your level. Majority of the adventure sports are equipped with full security and safety. Means there are no accidents. Also for having more enjoyment you can hire a local Kite buddy with a security boat if you want to go out further field.

Sri Lanka - Adventure After doing kite surfing the next sport is wind surfing. Herein the winds are side to side-onshore. This means you can surf 3 miles downwind and land on the wide not very crowded beach of Negombo. This beach is calm in nature but at the time of cyclone it can produce havoc. That’s why it is wise to carry proper safety gear and also the expert trainer. After wind surfing the next sports is mountain climbing. There are array of mountains that offer extreme mountain climbing and that you can enjoy easily and fully.

The important point to note is that Colombo houses some important installations. Thus, all the major adventure sports are played here with an ease. If you feel mountain climbing is not your cup of tea then there are varied wildlife parks that begin in the remote national park of Wasgamuwa. Wasgamuwa is one of the larger parks in Sri Lanka and is home to Elephants, Leopards, Sloth Bears, Crocodiles and many other common herbivores like Deer, Wild boar and Buffalo. Herein you can go for rock climbing and also on a safari.

If you wish for more adventure then there is mountain biking. Mountain biking is very famous here and people prefer to meet with the nature on their bikes. But being the forest area it is wise to have a guide with you as at the time of emergency he can act as your savior. If you want to see various birds then Sri Lankas only virgin rain forest Sinharaja is your prime destination. This unique biosphere is a complete haven for birdwatchers with 22 of Sri Lankas 26 endemics being spotted here.

Sri Lanka History

Sri Lanka - History

Sri Lanka - History Sri Lanka has got the most glorious and rich history and somehow it is lined with India too. If we delve into Sri Lanka’s history we come to know that it was the Paleolithic human settlements that discovered at excavations in several cave sites in the Western Plains region. According to few anthropologists the entombment rites and certain ornamental artifacts reveal similarities between the first inhabitants of the island and the early inhabitants of southern India.

Another astonishing fact is that this marvelous country is also mentioned in the Indian epic Ramayana, which described the emperor Ravana as ruler of the dominant kingdom of Lanka. But the main and concrete written accounts of the country's history are the Buddhist chronicles of Mahavansa and Dipavamsa. Moving few years ahead we come across the fact that the earliest-known inhabitants of the island now known as Sri Lanka were probably the ancestors of the Wanniyala-Aetto people, also known as Veddahs.

Sri Lanka - History Despite being only 3000 in number they possessed a powerful display. As per linguistic analysis it was discovered that a relationship of the Sinhalese language with the languages of the Sindh and Gujarat emerged well after the integration of assorted ethnic groups. But it was the Dravidian people who started migrating to the island from the pre-historic period. Being rich in culture and boasting glorious history there are some remarkable archaeological sites including the ruins of Sigiriya, the so-called "Fortress in the Sky", and huge public works.

From the years Sri Lanka has been ruled by various small kingdoms that dominated different regions. Apart from that this beautiful island was continuously invaded by South Indian kingdoms and parts of the island were ruled intermittently by the Chola dynasty, the Pandya dynasty, the Chera dynasty and the Pallava dynasty.

Also very few know that this splendid island was also invaded by the kingdoms of Kalinga (modern Orissa) and those from the Malay Peninsula. Amidst this continuous invasion in the 3rd century BCE Bhikkhu Mahinda brought the Buddhism from India. Some of the historians believe that he was either the son or brother of Mauryan emperor Ashoka.

Always known as rich exporter, ancient Sri Lanka was also the world's leading exporter of cinnamon, which was exported to Egypt and many other countries as early as 1400 BCE. Sri Lanka was also the first Asian nation to have a female ruler in Queen Anula (47–42 BC).

Nepal Geography

Nepal - Geography

Nepal - GeographyNepal is one country that has many things and places to showcase and Nepal Tourism provides you the best in this regard. Whether, it may be the climate, historical buildings, monasteries, and local people, this beautiful country is worth a visit. Talking about its geography, Nepal is of approximately rectangular shape, 650 kilometers (400 mi) wide and 200 kilometers (125 mi) broad, with an area of 147,181 square kilometers. This scenic country is generally separated into three physiographic areas: the Mountain, Hill, and Terai Regions. And these ecological belts run east-west and are bisected by Nepal's major river systems. Firstly talking about the Terai Plains, they are bordered with India and are also the part of the northern rim of the Indo-Gangetic plains. Apart from that they are also formed and fed by three major rivers: the Kosi, the Narayani (India's Gandak River), and the Karnali. So when you travel and tour Nepal, you will find that this region has a hot, humid climate.

Talking about the Hill Region, abut the mountains and varies from 1,000 to 4,000 metres (3,300-13,125 ft) in altitude. However, this region is primarily dominated by two low mountain ranges, the Mahabharat Lekh and Shiwalik Range. Also the hilly region includes the Kathmandu Valley, the country's most fertile and urbanised area. The most surprising feature is that despite being geographical isolated and with its limited economic potential, the region always has been the political and cultural centre of Nepal. Unlike the valleys, elevations above 2,500 meters (8,200 ft) are thinly populated. Moreover, the mountain region also contains the highest region in the world. The world's highest mountain, Mount Everest (Sagarmatha in Nepali) at 8,850 meters (29,035 ft) is also sited on the border with China. And if you think that's enough then Nepal Tourism takes you to another eight of the world's fourteen highest mountains that are located in Nepal. Kanchenjunga, the world's third highest peak, is also located on its eastern border with Sikkim. However, deforestation is a major crisis in all regions, with resulting erosion and degradation of ecosystems.

Nepal - GeographyTalking about its climatic conditions, Nepal has five climatic zones, broadly corresponding to altitude. Here, the tropical and subtropical zones lie below 1,200 metres (3,940 ft), the temperate zone 1,200 to 2,400 metres (3,900-7,875 ft), the cold zone 2,400 to 3,600 metres (7,875-11,800 ft), the sub arctic zone 3,600 to 4,400 metres (11,800-14,400 ft), and the arctic zone above 4,400 metres (14,400 ft). Due to its geographic isolation, Nepal experiences five seasons: summer, monsoon, autumn, winter and spring. The Himalaya blocks cold winds from Central Asia in winter, and forms the northern limit of the monsoon wind patterns. Even though Nepal don't share boundary with Bangladesh, the two countries are separated by a narrow strip of land about 21 kilometre (13 mi) wide, called the Chicken's Neck. Currently, efforts are in progress to make this area a free-trade zone. This will boost Nepal tourism and help more tourists visit this beautiful country.

Sri Lanka Nature

Sri Lanka - Nature

Sri Lanka - Nature Like its history and culture nature also plays an important role in Sri Lanka’s tourism. Sited across the sea this marvelous island boasts the pleasant climate and is also rich in flora and fauna. Delving into nature of Sri Lanka it primarily and directly depends on the availability of rainwater. The high mountains of Sri Lanka and the southwestern part of the country are known as the wet zone. These are the areas that receive ample rainfall averaging almost 250 centimeters. The most surprising feature is that majority of the southeast, east, and northern parts of the country comprise the dry zone. This dry zone receives annual rainfall between 1200 and 1900 mm. and much of the rain in these areas falls from October to January; during the rest of the year there is very little precipitation. This is the reason why all living creatures must conserve precious moisture. In all, this splendid island has three biosphere reserves, Hurulu, Sinharaja, and the Kanneliya-Dediyagala-Nakiyadeniya

Talking about its nature Sri Lanka’s arid northwest and southeast coasts receive the least amount of rain. That is almost 600 to 1200 mm per year and this scanty rainfall is mainly concentrated within the short period of the winter monsoon. The main highlight of Sri Lanka’s nature is that herein you can find varieties of flowering acacias that are well adapted to the arid conditions and flourish on the Jaffna Peninsula. And talking about the trees of the dry-land forests are some valuable species, such as satinwood, ebony, ironwood, and mahogany.

Sri Lanka - Nature Now knowing the wet zone nature of Sri Lanka, herein the dominant vegetation of the lowlands is a tropical evergreen forest, with tall trees, broad foliage, and a dense undergrowth of vines and creepers. This is the prime reason why subtropical evergreen forests resembling those of temperate climates flourish in the higher altitudes. Very few know that there was a time during the Mahaweli Ganga Program of the 1970s and 1980s in northern Sri Lanka, the government set aside four areas of land totaling 1,900 km² as national parks.

There was a time when nature played an important role in Sri Lanka’s tourism as forests were its main highlight. Few years back forests covered nearly the entire island, but by the late 20th century lands classified as forests and forest reserves covered only one-fifth of the land. Seeing this sudden forest erosion Ruhunu National Park in the southeast protects herds of elephant, deer, and peacocks. Same can be mentioned for Wilpattu National Park in the northwest preserves the habitats of many water birds, such as storks, pelicans, ibis, and spoonbills.

Tibet Tours

Tibet - Tours

Tibet - Tours Tibet or popularly known as “Shangri La”, ‘the Rooftop of the World’ is the country locked away in its Himalayan castle. Tibet is one of the most beautiful countries which have long exercised a siren's hold on the thoughts of the West. The most striking feature is that despite being the devastating Chinese occupation, they have still managed to make their own identity and have kept their traditions and humor breathing. Delving into Tibet’s history we come to know that it was once an independent empire. That independent empire where the government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Tibet in Exile merged together. But somehow they both disagree over this fact and also they have sustained that Tibet was not a part of China. And also they raise the question that is whether this assimilation into China was legal.

This is the reason why whenever the Government of Tibet in Exile and the Tibetan refugee community worldwide refer Tibet, they mean a large area that formed the cultural entity of Tibet for many centuries. This is also includes their various traditional provinces of Amdo, Kham (Khams), and Ãœ-Tsang (Dbus-gtsang). But somehow they exclude the areas outside the People's Republic of China (PRC) like Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Bhutan, and Ladakh that have now formed part of the Tibetan cultural sphere. Talking about its geographical presentation we realize that Tibet is located on the world's highest region that is Tibetan Plateau. The most astonishing fact is that majority of the youngest mountain ranges in the world that are mere 4 million years old lies in this marvelous country. But the most striking fact is that Tibet Tibet - Tours is the place where there is Mount Everest, with the average altitude is about 3,000 m in the south and 4,500 feet in the north.

Historically Tibet is very rich and the historic Tibet consists of various regions such as Amdo in the northeast which is now, incorporated by China into the provinces of Qinghai, Gansu and Sichuan, second to follow is Kham in the east, divided between Sichuan, northern Yunnan and Qinghai. The next on the list is Tibetan Autonomous Region, U (dBus) located in the center, and Tsang sited in the center-west. Last but not the least to follow is Ngari situated in the far west. Economy wise Tibet is primarily an agriculture dominated country. The main reason behind this widespread occupation is that they have limited arable land and livestock raising. But with recent changes and also due to the increased interest in Tibetan Buddhism tourism has become an increasingly important sector. This is the reason why this sector is actively promoted by the authorities.

Thus, in short we can say that this country is a visual treat and also worth paying a visit.

Sri Lanka Culture

Sri Lanka - Culture

Sri Lanka - Culture If you think that Sri Lanka only has glorious history then you are absolutely wrong as this glorious past is equally complemented with rich culture. Sri Lanka is the perfect assortment of rich and varied culture and this scenic island is the home of two main traditional cultures that are the Sinhalese and the Tamil. Talking about the Sinhalese’s first they are mainly centered in the ancient cities of Kandy and Anuradhapura whereas Tamil is centric to the city of Jaffna.

Jaffna is the same city where the public library that was destroyed in 1983 which was the world centre of Tamil archives and scholarship. But seeing the recent years a British colonial culture was added and lately Sri Lanka, particularly in the urban areas, has gone through a remarkable conversion in the western mold. This is the evidential from the fact that the most Sri Lankans primarily residing in the villages have eaten customary food, engaged in traditional crafts and expressed themselves through traditional arts.

Talking about the economic culture, herein the economic growth and intense economic competition in developed countries has spilled over even to much of Sri Lanka. This is the reason why they have made array of producing changes that can be variously identified as progress, westernization or a loss of individuality and integration. If you think that’s enough on western influence then you are wrong as majority Sri Lankans have further added western influences to the traditional diet such as rice and curry. In fact their customary diet pittu, the mixture of fresh rice meal, very lightly roasted and mixed with fresh grated coconut, then steamed in a bamboo mould is also affected.

Sri Lanka - Culture Same can be mentioned for ‘Kiribath’, which is cooked in thick coconut cream for this unsweetened rice-pudding which is accompanied by a sharp chili relish called lunumiris; wattalapam, rich pudding of Malay origin made of coconut milk, jaggery, cashew nuts, eggs, and various spices including cinnamon cloves and nutmeg, kottu, and hoppers, batter cooked rapidly in a hot curved pan, accompanied by eggs, milk or savories.

Also it is said that Sri Lankan food has Dutch and Portuguese influences. This is the reason why the island's Burgher community preserving this culture through traditional favourites such as Lamprais, Breudher and Bolo Fiado. Like food religion also plays an important part in the life and culture of Sri Lankans. It is said that the Buddhist majority observe Poya Days, once per month according to the lunar calendar. And same is done by the Hindus and Muslims who observe their own holidays.

Also you’ll be amazed to know that there are many Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka and many mosques, Hindu temples and churches all across the island. Moving in the North and the East of the island, you will find that there are many mosques and Hindu temples because a large Tamil and Muslim population resides in those areas. But in the interior of the island is mostly Buddhist, and indeed there are many Buddhists in all parts of the island.
