Bhutan Itinerary

Bhutan Itinerary

Duration : 3 Nights / 4 Days
Places to Visit : Paro - Thimphur
Day 1 : Paro
Fly into Himalayas with Druk Air, Bhutan's National Air Carrier. The green wall of hills known as doors, or gateways into Bhutan from the plains climbs continually higher as the plane flies north towards the Tibetan border. Silvery rivers thread the valleys, waterfalls plunge down the forested mountainsides, and to the north, the great snowcapped peaks of the inner Himalayas rise up into the sky. As the aircraft enters the Paro valley, look down and you will see the Paro Dzong overlooking Paro Chu (river) with Ta Dzong, watch tower, now the National museum, above it.. After completion of airport formalities, you will drive through fascinating valley of Paro to the hotel. Evening visit to Paro market and take a stroll through town's main street. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Besides, the Bhutanese monks read and write the ancient variant of the Tibetan language known as chhokey. If you think that comparison is enough then you are wrong as you will be surprised to know that the Bhutanese people are also physically similar to the Tibetans. However, historians have no concrete evidence as of when they crossed over the Himalayas and settled in the south-draining valleys of Bhutan.

Day 2 : Paro - Thimphu
After breakfast in the hotel, drive to Drukgyel Dzong, a ruined fortress where Bhutanese warriors fought Tibetan invaders centuries ago. The snowy dome of sacred Chomolhari, "mountain of goddess" looms directly over the dzong. Along the way, see the 7th century Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the 108 temples built in the Himalayas by Tibetan King, Songtsen Gampo. This temple reflects the introduction of Buddhism in Bhutan After lunch, visit to Ta Dzong, originally built as watch tower, now houses National Museum of the Kingdom. It boasts antique thangkha, textiles, weapons & armour, household objects and a rich assortment of natural and historic artifacts. Along the wooden galleries lining the courtyard of the Rinpung Dzong are fine wall paintings illustrating Buddhist lore such as four friends, the old man of long life, the wheel of life, scenes from the of Milarepa, Mount Sumeru and other cosmic mandala. After that proceed to Thimphu, the capital town of Bhutan. The road leads through the Paro valley to the confluence of Paro and Thimphu rivers at chuzom ( confluence ). Three differrent style of chortens adorn the confluence. A short way beyond, on the left, is Tschogang Lhakhang, the temple of the hill of excellent horse. It is private temple, built in 15th century, as the result of visitation from Balaha, the excellent horse, a manifestation of Chenrezig, the compassionate Buddha. After the narrow, rock lined section of the road opens up as Thimphu approaches, Simtokha Dzong lies enroute. Simtokha means the place of profound tantric teaching', this dzong now houses a school for the study of the Dzongkha language. On arrival in Thimphu, check into the hotel.

India - Lakshadweep

India - Lakshadweep

if you are tired of traveling to the same hill stations, beaches and deserts, then it is wise to turn your head towards Lakshadweep. Lakshadweep is located just off the coast of Kerala. It is the widely scattered group of coral islands, in all there are 36 of them and collectively they are known as Lakshadweep. Earlier very few Indian travel portals, tour companies and even travel agents are reluctant to make a tour to this place but after Lakshadweep became a part of the Union of India it emerged as one of the country's newest tourist destinations.

You'll be surprised to know that tem of the islands are inhabited by simple, peace-loving folk whose language is close to that spoken in Kerala. Also herein the islanders have lifestyles and occupations that revolve around coconut cultivation, coir matting and fishing. And despite being modern and urban nothing is actually produced in the islands themselves. As everything comes from the 'mainland', as India is somewhat quaintly referred to there.

This is the best place for the person who loves adventure sports. That's why tourism's major focus is on water sports, as each of the islands are surrounded by a coral reef providing large areas of crystal clear water for everything from snorkeling to wind surfing. From 36 islands only five islands are open to tourists have simple accommodation in the shape of beach cottages. And furthermore, for touring Lakshadweep you need a permission that can be obtained from the Lakshadweep tourist office in Cochin. But if you are traveling with Travel With Us then you don't have to worry as they'll be doing all the necessary formalities on your behalf.

Despite being located on outskirts of India, this island city has got regular flights that operate from Cochin to one of the islands, as well as modestly priced ship cruises which stop at all the islands open to tourism. These cruises begin and end at Cochin.

Also you don't have to worry for the equipments used in water sports as they are readily available at the islands themselves. But they are not that much into shopping as their main focus is entertainment and leisure. In short it won't be wrong to say that Lakshadweep is the perfect holiday for those who want to get away from the artifices of the world and enjoy a few days in simple yet stunningly beautiful surroundings.

India - Madhya pradesh

India - Madhya pradesh

Exquisitely carved temples, proud fortresses and variety of wildlife in short you name it and Madhya Pradesh has it all. Lying at the heart of India, Madhya Pradesh is a state located amongst the high plateau, historically known as the Malwa region. Bhopal being the capital city, Madhya Pradesh is a fascinating amalgam of an old historic city, and modern urban planning. That's why majority of Indian travel agents or Indian travel companies can't afford to miss this vibrant city. Madhya Pradesh too has a historical background and dates back to the time of Ashoka, the great Mauryan ruler, to the Chandelas. But it's the Chandelas, who gets the maximum credit as they built the fantastic monuments of Eros, Khajuraho, in the north of the state. Despite having a historical background, Madhya Pradesh still boasts an urban culture. Apart from that this colourful state also holds a special position in the history of music. And the finest of the examples are the Gwalior gharana, the rivalry of Tansen and Baiju Bawra, which is the most prominent arbiters of style.

Bhopal is the place which kick starts the journey to this beautiful place. Bhopal is one of the oldest and historical cities, which dates back to the 11th century AD, built by the legendary King Bhoja. But after the fall of the Mughal Empire with the death of Aurangzeb in AD 1707, there was a political turmoil. But soon it was overtaken by Britishers. As far as the attractions goes this City of Lakes has two beautiful lakes that are situated in the center of the city. Apart from that there is Bharat Bhavan showcasing Indian art, folk traditions, sculpture and a centre for the performing arts as well. Also there are Bhimbetka and Udaygiri two marvelous excursions from Bhopal, having notable cave sculptures of religious themes.

After exploring Bhopal the next halt is at Gwalior. According to some historians Gwalior has derived its name from a great sage Gwalipa who cured a chief of the Kachwaha clan suffering from leprosy. Moreover, Gwalior's premeditated position amid north and south India made it an important possession and was captured by several ruling houses. This city has been possessed by the Mughals, Jats, Marathas and the British. But finally in 1885, it was handed over to Jiyaji Rao Scindia at a formal durbar. After that it was theirs rule which saw the rising of the heroic queen Rani of Jhansi and Tatya Tope. After having a close encounter with history, the next destination is the fascinating temples of Khajuraho. Khajuraho temples were built between 950 and 1050 A.D. are a unique gift of love to the world. Khajuraho derives its name from the Khajur tree abundantly found in this area.

As far as the history goes in all there were 85 temples but not there are 22. All of the 22 temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and the Jain Tirthankaras. Also the temples are grouped into three geographical divisions: western, eastern and southern. Thus, just wake up and plan a trip to this magnificent state with Travel With Us.
