Tibet Traveling



Tibet is the most beautiful and pious country. People who visit here are tending to fall in love with its beauty and charm. This is the reason why more and more people are moving towards this country and enjoy its spotless beauty. Seeing this sudden rush of the tourists, now Tibetan government has decided to promote it with full flow and have started investing money in it. So that more and more people come and visit this splendid country. But prior coming to this country it is wise to know few things which are not only important but also necessary. Some of the things to be kept in mind while traveling in Tibet are as follows:
  • It is recommended to visit Tibet around May to July, and September to October. During winter, roads might be blocked by heavy snow in east Tibet and Ngari. However, Lhasa, Tsetang and Shigatse are suitable for sightseeing tours all-year round
  • It is advisable to carry fresh fruit for your consumption as upon arrival, you might lose your appetite and this might be the only food you would like to eat
  • Very few know that independent travel is prohibited in Tibet. Thus, for traveling in Tibet you ought to join an organized group or have a private tour arranged by a travel agency
  • Ones your itinerary is fixed you can start your journey anytime at your convenience

  • As far as the currency goes besides Chinese Yuan, only US dollars can be accepted. There are various shops that accept American currency but there number is limited and you might not be able to get a good deal for an exchange rate. However, credit cards can only be used at some hotels. The Bank of China also accepts credit cards. ATM is not widely available. Exchanging your money to Chinese currency will be the best option for you, which can be done at the Bank of China

  • Without the Tibet Travel Permit, the flight tickets to Tibet are not be issued

  • ut if you are a Chinese Passport Holder then you do not need Tibet Permit to go/travel to Tibet

  • Foreign tourists at times can face few problems as there is no direct flight to Tibet. But people go to a certain city in mainland China, like Chengdu, Beijing and Guangzhou or go to Kathmandu to take a flight to Lhasa
  • Overall, Tibet is quiet safe as almost all Tibetans are devout Buddhists. Who believe that all good deeds will accumulate merit in their next lives; thus crimes are rare. But still tourists need pay attention to dogs that are free to move everywhere

  • Medicines are a must for travelers and also consult your doctor prior to your travel to Tibet. Try to carry some pain-killer pills and enough medicine for colds, diarrhea, nausea and fever. Some nasal ointment and throat-moistening pills will greatly be of help for those who are sensitive to chilly or freezing weather conditions.
